Achievement gets official recognition

At a special function on Wednesday evening 21 March, Minister for Environment Kete Ioane gave thanks to members of the Arorangi Girls Brigade. This was in recognition of their “Stream Walk Project” last year when they cleaned up Muriavai Stream in Puaikura. Nine of the 10 girls who took part were present. Each received a “Certificate of Participation” from the Minister.
Company Captain Mrs Anna Andrew received a framed “Certificate of Recognition” from the Minister. Brigade Officer Tangi Taoro was also present.
Those who made speeches were the Ministry’s Head of the International Waters Project Tauraki Raea and the Minister’s chief executive officer Anthony Brown. Each girl spoke of their experience with the project and Taoro and Andrew also spoke.
The Minister acknowledged the group’s valued contribution to the wider community and thanked them.
The girls present were: Tangi Bishop, Turanga Taikakara, Janet Andrew, Miimetua Andrew, Ngatamaine Teiti, Georgina Mataroa, Keziah Ngapoko Taokia, Marae Mataroa and Tearoa Ngametua. Following the presentation the girls were hosted to light refreshments.
