ANZ Sponsors Major Rugby Tournament
ANZ and the International Rugby Board are bringing Rugby into the Pacific through its three year partnership. This partnership covers the Pacific Nations Cup during June and July, the recently completed Pacific Rugby Cup and the Oceania Cup which is being played this Saturday the 16th of August at the Tereora National Stadium.
ANZs General Manager, Mr Phil Haynes presented sports bags and water bottles to the National Cook Islands team today as part of its ongoing support for this partnership.
“ANZ has a long association with sporting events across the Pacific and as part of this sponsorship we will be working closely with the International Rugby Board to support junior rugby and its development across the Pacific and the Cook Islands,” Mr Haynes said.
“ANZ understands that Rugby is a sport that’s very close to the hearts of many Pacific Islanders and as the leading bank in the Pacific and with close links to the communities we operate in, we are delighted to be able to partner with the IRB and be a part of this significant series in the Cook Islands and the Pacific”, said Mr Haynes.
The Oceania Cup Eastern Qualifying match will be played at the Tereora National Stadium between Team Cook Islands and Team Niue. The main match starts at 3:30pm with curtain raisers being played by Avatea and Avarua School followed by Tereroa College and SENZ.
