Reward for Demo President Tongia?
By Charles Pitt, Political Editor

WITH the Democratic Party having secured a comfortable election victory, look to their hierarchy to reward hard-working party officials.
The first that comes to mind is the energetic Party President Makiuti Tongia. Since returning from New Zealand some five years ago, Tongia has made a good contribution to the Party.
As to how Tongia might be rewarded for his sterling efforts, one can only speculate.
However, it is common knowledge that Tongia’s background is in cultural affairs and issues.
LANGUAGE
He is a recognised poet and language tutor having once been associated with the promotion and running of Cook Islands Maori language courses at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand.
It would come as no surprise therefore if Makiuti was rewarded with Culture’s top job.
