AKAOA FINAL WORDS

Keu Mataroa
Teariki Heather

The heat went on in the final countdown to the Akaoa byelection on Tuesday, 28 November.
The Democratic Party pumped money into television advertising featuring both Prime Minister Jim Marurai and his deputy and party leader, Dr Terepai Maoate, supporting their candidate.
The Demos know a win by Keu Mataroa is crucial to their hopes of getting the two-thirds majority in Parliament they need to bring about their promised reforms.
Meanwhile, Teariki Heather is fighting to retain the seat and keep his political career alive.
Turn to page 10 and 11 to see the final words of the candidates as Akaoa prepared to vote.
