Unwanted Karati expected to resign
By Charles Pitt,
Political Editor

Minister for Cultural Development Wilkie Rasmussen announced on Friday that Secretary for Culture Raemaki Karati is expected to tender his resignation within a week or so.
Rasmussen said Karati had taken leave on the advice of the Public Service Commissioner Navy Epati. Several days ago, Rasmussen and Epati had discussed Karati’s situation.
Rasmussen said he had to preserve the integrity of the Ministry. In the case of Culture there had been far too many complaints.
Rasmussen said he wouldn’t tolerate working with Karati’s kind of leadership. Rasmussen said he has invoked the compatibility with the minister clause in Karati’s contract.
ADVERT
Rasmussen advised that an acting secretary would be appointed while the position was being advertised.
As yet there was no decision as to who would be acting secretary although it could be someone from within the Ministry.
