Thank you, Rarotonga

Dear Editor - On behalf of the Esther Honey Foundation, we pass our sincere thanks to you all for your support.
Over the past months, on top of managing a very busy clinic, the Esther Honey Foundation volunteer team have been getting out amongst the people at the markets face painting and walking the streets raising funds and awareness of the foundation.
It is good to see many visitors, both locals and tourists, coming in to the clinic to see first hand what the clinic does. We get such a great reaction from people and it never ceases to amaze me just how many people adore animals and want to assist us in our work somehow.
The team have delivered many new EHF collection boxes to establishments around the island - if you don’t have one and would like to assist our cause by having a EHF collection container at your business, please call us and we will put you on the list for next delivery – tel 22336.
A special thanks to Trader Jack’s, Bank of the Cook Islands, ANZ Bank, Castaway Villas, Crown Beach Resort, CITV, CI News, CI Herald, the Rarotonga Hospital and the many other organisations and people that support the clinic and the volunteers.
Some key points in caring for your animals are:
• Be kind to your animals – they love you, so love them back.
• Give them shelter – they too like to be warm and dry
• Feed them nutritious food - bones are not ideal for dogs cooked or raw. Meat is best for dogs and puppies and make sure your puppies food is soft and mushy – remember they are only little.
• Water should be available at all times for your pet
• Please remember to get all of your animals spade (females) or castrated (males). This will help bring the population of stray animals down but also stop your male dogs from wandering away.
• Give your pets regular flea and worm treatments (every 3-4 months) – worms and fleas can be passed on to your family so it is for the benefit of the entire family to get your pet treated regularly.
• Register your pet.
The team at Esther Honey are passionate about animal welfare. We look forward to continuing the work we do and to make a difference. As one of our visitors said to me recently, “you cannot change the world through saving one animal, but you can change the world for that one animal”.
Meitaki and best wishes to you all
